About This Article

The purpose of this article is to provide a comprehensive overview of Hub Desktop Notifications with IE.

IE does not offer the same Desktop Notifications as other browsers, but it does offer something similar with Pinned Sites. Once a site is pinned to the task bar, the Conversations Hub can add a badge to the taskbar icon based on your Conversation Hub’s Desktop Notification settings. Also, the taskbar icon will flash if the Conversations Hub is not the window that has focus. This allows you to keep working on your Windows desktop while relying on the taskbar to alert you to new chats and messages.

Pinning the Conversations Hub takes seconds: after you have logged into the Conversations Hub, click the icon to the left of the web address in One Box, or the tab for the website, or the Conversations Hub’s icon on the New Tab page, and then drag it to the taskbar. That’s it. Once Conversations Hub is pinned, it shows up as its own thumbnail, separate from Internet Explorer. Now all it takes is one click to open up the Conversations Hub as well as helping alert you to those new chats.

The Pinned Site feature, and therefore the alerting/badging, is only available in IE9 and up as well as the MS Edge browser.
