About This Article
The purpose of this article is to provide a comprehensive overview of how to offer chat on a country basis.
With more or less 196 countries, the world is a very big place but the internet age allows you to reach (almost) every corner of it.
You can do exactly the same with the SnapEngage Live Chat on your website as you can chat with your web-visitors regardless where they are. Actually, SnapEngage provides you with the tools to target people from different countries with messages in their own language.
Nevertheless, your company might do business only in certain countries or for any other reason you might just want to offer chat only to visitors from specific countries. Or similarly, you might want to exclude a few countries from chat.
This is actually something that you can do with SnapEngage! We offer two options which really are two sides of the same coin. You can either ask us to allow chat only for certain countries (“white-list” those countries) or exclude some (“black-list” those countries).
For example, if you want to offer chat only to people in Iceland, Canada and Norway, you need to ask us to “white-list” those three. If, on the other hand, you want to offer chat to everyone except people in the USA and Germany, you need to ask us to ‘black-list’ those two. Please note that for the USA, this kind of filtering can also be done at a state level.
The feature is available on a widget basis which means that you can “white-list” or “black-list” countries in one widget but still offer chat to every country on other widgets.
It is important to note that for the countries where you won’t be allowing the chat, the offline mode will still be available. That means that visitors from those countries will still be able to see your “offline” buttons and send you emails through them. If you do not want to receive offline messages, you would need to set the dynamic button’s “offline image” check that option on the Design studio (fig 2) after editing your existing design.
Please send us an email to [email protected] or start a chat with us to let us know which countries you want to offer your chat to.
